AC repair

AC repair in Miami-Dade, from the owner himself

When the house won't cool down, you want the cause found and explained. Joel Castillo looks at the whole system, the air handler inside and the unit outside, and tells you what he found.

Call when your AC is

  • Running, but blowing warm or barely cool air
  • Leaving water around the air handler or ceiling
  • Humming outside while the fan stays still
  • Freezing up, with ice on the lines
  • Not turning on, or the thermostat screen is blank

How a repair call goes

  1. You call Joel

Tell him what the system is doing. He'll tell you anything safe to try first.

  2. He looks at the system

Thermostat, air handler, drain line and the outdoor unit, so the real cause is found.

  3. He explains what he found

What failed, what the repair involves and what can wait.

  4. The repair, once you agree

Then a check that the house is cooling again.

What it costs

It depends on what failed. Ask Joel for the cost once he has looked at the system. This site does not publish prices.

FAQ

Questions homeowners ask

Should I keep running the AC if it's blowing warm?

No. If the coil is frozen, running it can damage the compressor. Set the thermostat to Off and the fan to On so the ice melts, then call.

What makes the outdoor unit hum without the fan turning?

Often a failed capacitor or contactor, both common on Miami systems that run most of the year. Turn the system off at the thermostat and call.

Why does my AC keep leaking water?

A clogged condensate drain line is the usual cause. Clearing it, and keeping it clear with maintenance, stops the overflow.
